The busiest tourist months are from September to April, but because Kangaroo Island is such a large island, visitors can still feel like they are in a wilderness area. Winter - June to August The greenest months. Because South Australia is the driest state in Australia, Kangaroo Island has a typically low rainfall. Most of our rain falls during these months, greening the countryside and stimulating the early wildflowers into bloom. Penguins are at their most active during this time, busily nesting and breeding. With nests along the foreshore in front of Seaview, their calls can be heard from Seaviews verandahs.Being an island, our winter minimum temperatures tend to be warmer than those of Adelaide. September to November - Possibly the most beautiful months for bushwalks and sightseeing. Most of the wildflowers are in bloom, it is warming up and the days are getting longer.
