Beaupre farm and guest cottage is owned and operated by Jane and Steve Daley, whose experience of Bed and Breakfast accommodation around the world inspired them to find one of their own. Their love of country life and a desire to have a waterfront farm combined well with the already established Bed and Breakfast business at Beaupre. The Beaupre property dates back to the turn of the century and was named after the French explorer Beautemps Beaupre, the hydrographer with the D'Entrecasteaux expedition of 1792. The peninsula of land jutting into the Huon Estuary is known as Beaupre Point, and was named in 1793. The land was settled in the late 19th century and in since that time has been used for orcharding (apples, berries and stonefruit) as well as sheep and cattle grazing. The homestead was built in 1905, renovated in the1980's and 2001 and is located a short distance from the cottage. Beaupre is located at the junction of Port Cygnet and the Huon Estuary, with magnificent 270 degree water views stretching as far as Bruny Island. The 80 acre property is completely private with the stunning headland vista only becoming evident from the front gate. There is a private beach, a trout filled billabong, an abundance of native flora and fauna (including a rare sea hawk) and many walking tracks over headlands and meadows. At low tide you can even gather mussels and oysters!
