Mount Hart Wilderness Lodge is a 10 acre tropical oasis of peace and serenity, situated alongside the magnificent Barker River. Mt Hart is one of the genuine original guest lodges of the Kimberley which was pioneered by an Australian icon - Taffy Abbotts, who has dedicated the past 17 years to restoring and preserving the hertiage gardens and homesteads on the property. At Mt Hart you can experience rare fauna and flora (including resident dingos), stunning geological features, a rich cattle station history and warm bush hospitality. We offer stylish and comfortable outback accommodation in two traditional heritage homesteads, both with wide verandahs and tropical roofs, sitting rooms and comphrensive libraries. Our double and twin bedrooms are all individual in decor and size, maintaining the traditional homestead atmosphere; and all rooms are close to shared facilities, the dining room, licensed bar and "The Fernery" our internet and interpretation facility. All rooms feature quality linen, bathrobes, air-conditioners, and tropical garden views. Hearty cooked breakfasts, and gourmet three-course dinners are served in the airy, tropical dining room, featuring Aboriginal and contemporary art. The homesteads are only a very short drive away from the spectacular Mt Matthew and Yellow-man Gorges.

Here guests can experience beautiful cascading waterfalls, explore delightful swimming holes and rock pools, go fishing for black brim or freshwater prawns, or walk into the centre of the gorge admiring and photographing the fascinating and incredible array of bird, plant and animal life. Yellow Man Gorge is a spectacular sandstone cliff face that towers above a beautiful pandanus lined waterway. It is an excellent location for bushwalkers, photographers and artists to explore and admire incredible age-old rock formations, as well as rare bird life.
