Let Footprints take you on an adventure like no other, to one of the most important marine turtle rookeries in the world. Coming with Footprints takes the hassle out of turtle watching. The return trip to Mon Repos is around 30km to Bundaberg and there is no public transport to the area. Footprints will take care of your ticket and get you there and back. In early November adult turtles will be returning to the area to nest at this unique beach. Two months later, their babies will be preparing to hatch and run to the awaiting ocean. Footprints has almost a decade's experience and our tour is "highly recommended" by Lonely Planet. Turtles often travel great distances to lay up to 190 eggs (130 on average). Giant tracks up the beach are a telltale sign a turtle is present. Eggs incubate for eight weeks in the beach's warmer brown sands, resulting in mainly female hatchlings. These emerge from late January to April, running to the awaiting ocean under cover of darkness. There's no better way to find your place in nature than to watch this timeless ritual, under a night sky to the sounds of the nearby ocean.
