Echidnas at South Durras
A prickly bundle We were living in Queanbeyan and craving salt water so we took a trip out to the coast. First up of course was a mid morning surf. After checking a few spots we ended up finding a wave at South Durras. The water was surprisingly warm and the beach was deserted. Next we went for a stroll to the most southern end of the beach. Our first wildlife encounter was a kangaroo and her joey. We didn’t have the camera so it was back to the car so we could capture the seemingly rare sight of roos on the beach. They were not shy and posed for the camera. While strolling along the beach we came across an echidna burrowing into the sand. Lucky we went back for the camera!! The beach ended at a rocky point covered with rock pools and banks of shells. It was such a peaceful, surreal area that we just happened to stumble upon, lucky us! |
