Bluesfest at Byron Bay 2011

Mojo Stage at Byron Bay Bluesfest

Mojo Stage at Byron Bay Bluesfest

Excitement built as the event organisers opened the gates for the start of the 2011 Bluesfest at Byron Bay in NSW. Our bags were searched, our wrist bands attached and maps of the five stage areas at the ready.

We settled into the Mojo covered area and had great views of the stage, crowd and big screens. As the sun set the lantern parade wove its way throughout the festival village. The audience enjoyed the music and energy of Michael Fronti & Spearhead, which followed the Arakwal welcome to country. Rivers of people streamed from one venue to another to catch favourite artists, and between performances, people drifted to an amazing assortment of food vendors and market stalls.

Everything is catered for and well organised; disabled viewing areas, first aid, ATMs, banks of toilets, bars, camping and parking areas. With the promise of artists such as Eric Bibb, Bob Dylan and Jethro Tull still to come, the festival looks like another winner.
