Ubirr ancient rock art
Ubirr Main Gallery x-ray art After breakfast we drove to Ubirr in the Kakadu National Park to view the ancient Aboriginal rock art of the area. The Main Art Gallery and Rainbow Serpent Gallery have a wheelchair accessible circular track, which takes about 45 minutes return. The Main Art Gallery has many x-ray human figures and animals, which reflect the relationship of the Aboriginal people with the land and their spiritual heritage. The Rainbow Serpent Gallery is the most sacred site and is traditionally a women only site. We turned off the circular track to take the steep climb for 45 minutes to Nadab Lookout. The effort was worthwhile, as the view across the wetlands was quite beautiful. |
