Skyscrapers at Surfers Paradise
Walking the beach highway The early morning and late afternoon beach walk are my favourite times during holiday visits to the Gold Coast. This morning we join the beach highway at Miami and walk along the sand northwards to Broadbeach. The number of people out walking and running is truly amazing, but at low tide there is plenty of room for everyone. To the north is a strip of shiny skyscrapers running parallel with the beautiful surf and sand, as far as the eye can see. We pause on our walk to have breakfast at the Broadbeach Surf Club, where people are busy preparing for an episode of the Greatest Athlete Competition. It’s a who’s who of athletes and we quickly spot Andrew Symonds, but it’s Steve Hooker who takes out the beach sprint. That’s what I love about the Gold Coast, the excitement and the tranquility. |
