Patting a Port Jackson Shark If you are interested in finding out about a truly amazing marine species, head to the Seahorse Farm at Port Adelaide in SA. We found the staff very friendly and interested, the video very informative and the live displays quite wonderful. Amazingly the male seahorse takes on the role of pregnancy and gives live birth to the young. In the wild seahorses are located in shallow temperate waters and have many predators. Their main defence is camouflage, which the Leafy Sea Dragon does well, and immobility, achieved by being able to grasp hold of seaweed and other objects with their prehensile tail. In the safety of the touch pool, we were also able to feel the rough skin of a Port Jackson Shark. |
