The Pinnacles at Cervantes

Limestone pillar formations

If you are holidaying in Perth, you must allocate time for a day trip to Cervantes, just 245km to the north. The main attraction of the town is The Pinnacles, located in the Nambung National Park. The Pinnacles are limestone pillar formations which have been eroded by wind and water and stand in a stark landscape of yellow sand. There is a Visitor Interpretive Centre within the National Park, which provides information about this unique natural attraction. Photographic opportunities are quite varied and include elevated shots from lookouts, sunrise and sunsets and wildflowers from August to October. It is a good idea to use a lens hood to eliminate glare and a tripod and back-up battery for longer exposures. You have never seen anything like it.
